Marriage Convention in Poland

A traditional Polish bride used to be a three or perhaps four day affair. Usually, it was held outside in flowers, woodland and buildings. They were a celebration of life and the bounty hot polish girl of essence. Today, however, many couples choose to skip the cathedral and basically include a service in their residence or backyard with close family and friends. They still enjoy the tremendous meal, songs and whiskey but it’s not quite what it once was.

On the day of the bride, just before midnight ( or around it if a one- moment bride), comes the popular meeting known as «oczepiny», the debut of the bride. At this point, the veil is removed and she dons her czepek – a cover worn by Polish maidens to reflect their rank as engaged ladies. This is also when the much locks are unbraided and cut brief, as a symbol of her changeover from boyhood to femininity.

As the few leave the church, guests shower them with coins and grains, to supply them luck and prosperity. They then change into their bash clothing. It is also traditional to throw tiny, spherical coins into the child’s scalp– whoever collects the most will remain in charge of their finances.

The gathering begins, and you’ll find a lot of dancing going on. Poles assume that this reduces the side effects of too much drinking. There will be a lot of food too, including lots of different types of cakes, sweets and ice cream.
